Yui Hirasawa is a character in the series K-ON!, and its sequel, K-ON!!. Her surname is taken from Japanese electropo-artist, Susumu Hirasawa. Yui plays the guitar in the club she's in, which is the Light Music Club. She is clumsy and distracted by cute things, and she cries quite a bit. However, she cheers up if she is given sweets. She loves eating the food Tsumugi Kotobuki brings to the club room. Yui eats a lot of sweets but she does not gain any weight. She messes around a lot with Ritsu Tainaka.

When Yui first joined the Light Music Club, she had no idea how to play guitar at all, but with help from her bandmates Mio Akiyama and Azusa Nakano, who also play guitar, Yui learnt how to play guitar soon. At a school performance, she forgot the lyrics halfway into the song, and was unable to sing after working too hard on her vocals, even though she is the Light Music Club's main vocalist.

Yui does not get good grades due to her getting distracted while she studies. She is so childish that most of the time it seems as if her younger sister, Ui Hirasawa, is the older sister. She spaces out often, but pays attention to things she is very interested in. Yui focuses on one thing at a time and forgets things easily, but overall, she is a kind-hearted girl. She nicknames her club mates and hugs them often. Yui can pass exams if she tries her best though, which was shown when she got a perfect score in an exam she had to redo in order to stay in the Light Music Club.
